Staff members have qualifications ranging from NVQ levels 3, 4, & 5.

Sue, Manager is a qualified teacher (B Ed) with the EYP status. Sue has also acheived her level 5 in Management.  Sue has worked in both nurseries, with her speciality in pre-school, having ran the Pre-school Unit at Downfield prior to her appointment at Westonbirt.

All of our staff members also achieve Paedeatric First Aid qualifications, Food Hygiene certificates and have also been trained in Safe Guarding Children (Child Protection). To keep current and up to date staff also attend regular Foundation Stage training and Liaison meetings as well as other training that will benefit both their own development and the childrens.

The main aim of the nursery is to provide a stimulating and welcoming environment for the children in its care. Attendance will promote and develop each child and ultimately prepare the child for school, meeting their individual needs. With the emphasis on play and active learning we aim to promote their social, emotional, physical and intellectual skills in a safe environment.  Staff are continually updating and enhancing their knowledge and understanding to maintain a high quality and consistency for the children in their care.

“Tigger’s @ Westonbirt Private Day Nursery” aims to provide first class care and education for all children to work in close partnership with parents/carers.

We aim to provide a stimulating and warm environment with a home culture, so that each child will gain confidence in his/her new surroundings and develop an awareness of new situations. We encourage the children to develop a sense of independence and an interest in exploring their natural surroundings. Children are recognised as having their own physical, social, emotional, language, cultural and intellectual needs.

Children are treated equally, irrespective of race, religion, gender origin or culture. We firmly believe in lots of cuddles and affection as we feel this promotes a sense of value and well being in each child.

Children are encouraged to be sociable and develop friendships during their time at nursery and to care for other children around them. We encourage the level of noise throughout the day, to remain at an acceptable level so that children can concentrate and work on particular activities without unnecessary distractions. This needs little enforcement as children are naturally curious and become engrossed in their work. There is always the opportunity to let off steam in the outside playtimes, during gym and during music and movement.

MEALS

“Tigger’s @ Westonbirt” has  been awarded 4**** scores on the doors for 2010 for Food and Hygiene from a spot check by the Cotswold District Council. In order to achieve these standards 100% of staff are qualified to handle food. Menus must be healthy, with dietary requirements catered for. Food risk analysis charts need to be kept and monitored and hygiene must be excellent. We do pride ourselves in the healthy eating menus we provide and all our staff are professionally trained and qualified in Food handling and hygiene.

Tigger’s @ Downfield was awarded 5**** scores on the doors for 2009 from a spot check by the Environmental Health Officer - from Stroud District Council, who was so impressed with our standards of hygiene and the quality and range of our healthy meals that she awarded us there and then! As we have a qualified chef the standard of our meals are excellent. No sugar or salt is added to any meal and we use lots of fresh fruit and vegetables.

The children will, depending on their hours of attendance, receive breakfast, a mid morning snack, lunch, mid afternoon snack and tea. We encourage the children to relax and take their time during meal times and we view this regular group meeting as an important opportunity for language and social development and the development of independence skills.

Lunch is a cooked meal and tea is a snack tea of sandwiches. Children who are under 1 will have a cooked tea. Wherever possible the children are offered fresh fruit and vegetables.

Children set the table and pour their own drinks (some with help) and at snack time select their own fruit. Children take it in turns to take the plates around their table and offer the other children snacks.

All food is provided in the fees however the babies must supply their own formula milk.

Parents must inform the Nursery Manager of any special dietary requirements / allergies. A letter is required from a GP for any allergies and their consequences, so that we are prepared at all times for the safety of a child.
